Review:
I don't know why I have been doing alan reviews lately, I guess her singles stands out the most in the past month or so. Anyway, I am very impressed with Kaze no Tegami, the fifth single of alan's and third out of the five Japanese elements that she is basing her singles on. This single is based on the Wind element.
Sora Uta, her previous single, is of an upbeat genre, Kaze no Tegami (Letter to the Wind) is now of a rock-edged single. Not that hard rock, but more distorted electric guitar chords in the background this time that seem to be absent in her previous single. alan seems to be trying out new genres for her upcoming debut album. The song is not hard-rock but of a softer rock sound, thus alan soothing voice sounds pretty good on top of the guitar and drums rhythem. Once again, nobody translated the lyrics yet, so I don't really know what the song means but the melody sounds very good. Anyway, I was always addicted to the A-side song in the past but for this single, I am more addicted to the b-side.
Since her previous single contains all upbeat songs, Kaze no Tegami contains all rock-genre songs. I am now addicted to Kagome. She mixes her traditional ballad sounds to the rock-edged background. I just love the song. Her last single's B-side did not sound all that great, actually, I thought it sound pretty cheesy but this single's B-side is just awesome. I can almost sing the song due to the fact I listen to it for so many time. With the strong A-side and B-side to this single, I gave this single five stars.
Well alan has been recording pretty good songs, her next single is going back to ballad since it was a previously recorded in Chinese for the movie "Red Cliff." Can't wait for that. I just wonder what type of genre she will pursue for her Water-element single...perhaps R&B? Since she haven't done that yet. I'll bet you $5 that it will be! Hah! Anyway, I can't wait until she releases her debut album. It is sure one album that I am definitely buying.
